The KM 2103 Karbine is the standard issue assault rifle found in TimeShift. KM 2103 Karbines are commonly found in most levels, sporting high fire-rate but suffers from low damage.
The KM 2103 Karbine is used by most Krone Police and Krone Guard(s) who generally are enemies that appears in most parts of the game. This bulky assault rifle has a high rate of fire and decent accuracy, but inflicts a low amount of damage per bullet; it functions more like the Half-Life SMG rather than the powerful assault rifles that you'd find depicted in most video games.
Enemies wear bulky body armor that Karbine bullets are not designed to penetrate. It can often take half a magazine to take down a single enemy. Of course your time powers turn enemies into sitting ducks, giving you the time you need to riddle them with bullets. When fighting without time powers the best option is to use the grenade launcher. Every Karbine you pick up will give you one or two grenades.
The KM 2103 Karbine is a good weapon to use throughout the game, although some discard it for the more powerful guns since enemies are more powerful and have more health not enough for the Karbine to kill. Despite this, it makes a good weapon in the game as well as multiplayer.
The original version (that made its appearance in the 2006 demo which is not playable outside of NTSC and not purchasable anymore) was called the Stalker Rifle. Stalker Rifle had 3 barrels and was artistically more steam-punk as well as having a scope, wooden stock, an grenade launcher, and the side fed magazine that would appear in the final game. but other wise functioned the same as the KM 2103 Karbine. Stalker Rifle also had a scope, all though footage seen of it on game play videos did not use the scope. The scope was likley cosmetic.
